Booth W2857, Westhall
NAB is THE international show for broadcast and streaming innovations. That’s why we are there to present the latest innovations from our labs as well as our established media technologies. Come and see us at booth W2857, we are excited to meet you!
xHE-AAC is the latest generation of the renowned AAC codec line and already used in Audible, Netflix, Facebook Stories, and Instagram Reels. The technology is natively supported in iOS, Android, Fire OS, and Windows. It provides DASH/HLS streaming at 12-320+ kbit/s, mandatory loudness and dynamic range control, and improved speech quality as well as stereo imaging.
A highlight of the Fraunhofer technology is the new anchor loudness feature. The innovation focuses on speech-gated loudness measurement within the xHE-AAC encoder. By normalizing loudness based on speech segments, it ensures a consistent audio experience without volume fluctuations, serving important standards like EBU R128 s4, and ATSC A/85.
MPEG-H Audio is a comprehensive Next Generation Audio (NGA) system with advanced personalization and accessibility options. It is the mandatory audio codec of Brazil’s new DTV+ broadcast standard and was selected as audio codec for the upcoming advanced ISDB broadcast system in Japan. MPEG-H Audio enables the creation and delivery of personalized immersive audio, which ensures accessibility through dialogue enhancement and audio description options. Sports broadcasts, for instance, can become customized experiences as MPEG-H Audio makes possible the selection of a language or favorite commentator, and choosing preferred sound settings like crowd sound, classic mix, and coaching zone. The playback is automatically optimized for the individual scenario and there are tools and solutions for the entire broadcast chain.
Discover the fully operational system including a live broadcast chain, Playback devices by leading CE manufacturers, and integrations into the most-used DAWs.
Post-pro Cloud is a localization service which neatly integrates into your Digital Cinema Package (DCP) creation workflow. LLM- and AI-based technologies that facilitate localization efforts are on the rise. The Post-pro Cloud framework lets you pick and choose the transcription and translation services that suit you best from a selection of such tools. A cloud-based editor facilitates the streamlined cooperation of your subtitling and editing team.
Fraunhofer IIS offers a JPEG XS SDK to take your workflow solution to the next level. The JPEG XS ISO standard was developed for the high-resolution video transfer over Internet Protocol of typical video formats in RGB, YCbCr color space, and CFA Bayer. And it is optimized not only for natural content, but also for screen and mixed video content. Because of its special low-complexity design it fits in almost any FPGA or ASIC hardware, CPU, GPU, and graphic platform like Nvidia Jetson or ARM processors to guarantee the robust transfer of high-resolution video data. The Fraunhofer JPEG XS SDK provides robustness with its additional forward error correction and concealment. A predictive and precise rate control supports RTP streaming (RFC 9134) for ST2110-22, and the MXF container format can store single-track and multi-track essence (ST2124). A compression ratio of 2:1 up to 16:1 is possible along with the requirements of the application. The Fraunhofer JPEG XS SDK offers a free Application Support Package to guide and assist system integrators and developers with the fast and convenient implementation of JPEG XS applications into professional workflows and devices.
Fraunhofer FOKUS is driving research in digital transformation, including communication systems. At NAB, the institute presents its latest innovations in sustainable media technologies for energy efficient streaming. These advanced technologies include streaming analytics, the Streaming Media Test Suite for content validation and testing as well as tools to verify Content Provenance and Authenticity. more.
Fraunhofer HHI is a world leader in the development of mobile and optical communication networks and systems as well as the processing and coding of video signals. The renowned contributor to three generations of video coding standards, including their major enhancement extensions and their related transport and storage formats, presents their latest generation: H.266/Versatile Video Coding (VVC). As a particular highlight, the video coding experts will show how video can be authenticated by adding digital signatures into bitstreams to enable trustworthy authentication at elementary stream level. VVC live enconding will be presented by its spin off startup Spin Digital.
