  • The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS in Erlangen and Cube-Tec International GmbH are jointly developing a new procedure for the high-quality and automated digitalization of analogue video cassettes. In this new procedure the complete signal processing path of tape machines is realized via computer software. This enables new forms of quality control, signal processing and the generation of technical meta data, which was previously not possible with the use of video recorders.

Fraunhofer IIS, the world’s renowned source for audio and multimedia technologies, today announced the availability of the Fraunhofer MultimediaPlayer for digital radio standards Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM30/DRM+) and DAB (DAB Classic/DAB+). The software enables device manufacturers of PC-based receiver solutions and smartphones to seamlessly integrate playback of digital radio programs, as well as the variety of data services offered by digital radio.

    Tested by BBC during Wimbledon, Fraunhofer’s new technology enables end users to adapt the volume of different audio elements within a single broadcast program. Fraunhofer IIS, the world’s renowned source for audio and multimedia technologies, is previewing its new dialogue enhancement technology at IFA and IBC 2011. It allows TV and radio audiences to individually adjust the volume of dialogue, music or sound effects within a single broadcast program. Fraunhofer’s technology will be the first of its kind to enable this level of audio control at the low bit-rates required for broadcasting.
