The 1938 BMW Wendler is an example of engineers' efforts to make cars faster. It represents the state of aerodynamics and lightweight construction at that time.
The non-destructive examination was primarily intended to answer these questions:
- Analysis of the construction (frame, wood-to-wood and wood-to-metal connections)
- Analysis of deformations and their causes
- Development of a conservation treatment plan
- History of the car and its provenance.
The examination was conducted by the Chair of Conservation Science at the Deutsches Museum in collaboration with the Chair of Restoration, Art Technology, and Conservation Science at the Technical University of Munich.
