KI4Tools – intelligent hand-operated tools

Even highly automated production requires some manual working processes. Here, the correct use of tools is vital not only for quality assurance but also for the safety of production staff.

Retrofitting of existing tools

With a retrofittable sensor module for hand tools, it’s possible to measure various parameters during work processes in order to ensure process optimization, transparency, and quality. By recording manual work processes, multiple sensors allow the system to detect whether and where screws are being tightened or loosened, for example. Moreover, technicians are shown the order in which to carry out the various work steps.

How the module works

This module for intelligent tools consists of sensors that measure acceleration, rotation rate, and magnetic fields. A steady stream of data transmitted via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth forms the basis for an AI pipeline, allowing the system to detect and identify the entirety of work steps.
