5GiLabB: Smart train maintenance with 5G positioning

The 5G Industrial Laboratory Bischheim (5GiLabB) is testing innovative use cases for the maintenance, monitoring and quality control of trains using 5G technology. The project aims to define an optimized scenario for 5G campus networks, demonstrate their potential for the quality management of train maintenance processes and investigate possibilities for expansion in other industrial contexts.

Boundless 5G: Logistics Processes with 5G

The Grenzenlos5G@BYBW project is testing the use of 5G for data-intensive control of devices and vehicles over long distances under real conditions in the Swabian region. The central projects include “Intralogistics of the future” and “Automated loading and unloading”.

Machine learning enables localization in complex, angled environments where conventional localization methods reach their limits. Neural networks use environmental information that is encoded in the radio signals and that conventional methods cannot process. The uncertainty estimation of neural networks and unsupervised learning can therefore enable reliable and efficient area-wide localization.
