Many actors come together on a construction site and different construction phases have to be coordinated. The increasing complexity presents increasing challenges. The digitalization of planning data and construction processes anticipates the problems and offers many decisive advantages. 5G has the potential to connect actors on construction sites and optimize construction site processes. With the help of secure, broadband data connections and location options in small-cell network expansion, room-precise location and decimeter-precise localization of recyclable materials or employees is possible. In addition, augmented reality applications support the construction process.
The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (IIS) is leading the project and is contributing its know-how in the areas of 5G, localization and industrial transformation.
The project partner is the 5G real laboratory in Braunschweig. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
