XGDensify: Transforming connectivity with AI

XGDensify aims to design and implement automated indoor and outdoor networks using technologies such as DigitalTwins, AI/ML, ray tracing and advanced 3D environment mapping. This innovation is relevant for the deployment or densification of existing 5G/6G networks. The XGDensify project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport.

5G-ECONET: Energy-efficient campus networks

Fraunhofer IIS is leading the “5G-ECONET” research project, which is working with research and industry partners to reduce the energy consumption of 5G campus networks. The aim is to use AI-supported methods to save energy without compromising network quality. The results will be tested in practice in an open RAN testbed. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport.

RIS4NGWB: Resilience and Security in Next-Generation Wireless Backhaul

In the rapidly evolving world of 5G/6G, it is more important than ever to ensure the security and resilience of your network. The RIS4NGWB research project uses Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) driven by Software-Defined Networking (SDN) to enable additional paths in the wireless backhaul of 5G/6G access points. This can neutralize potential interferers or temporarily increase capacity (resilience) and, most importantly, make potential eavesdropping more difficult.
