What’s special about this technology?
5G fingerprinting is unusual in that it allows indoor localization as a pure software solution that can be installed on, say, commercially available smartphones. It reliably detects different rooms and floors by way of the structural elements that attenuate the field strengths of mobile radio signals, such as walls and ceilings. Thanks to a calibration measurement, this technology turns the complexity of building structures into an advantage. The more elaborate the structure, the more accurate a solution can become.
